Just under a month to hear the engines start up at the 53 rd edition of the Rally del Salento, scheduled for the 21 st and 22 nd of May along the fascinating and scenic asphalt roads of Capo di Leuca. The event, which enjoys the important patronage of the Puglia Region, the Province of Lecce and the CONI Regional Committee, is in the midst of the preparatory phase with registrations open until Wednesday the 12 th of May and is preparing to write new pages in sporting history. All the organizational staff coordinated by Automobile Club Lecce is working hard to guarantee a high-level event under every aspect: professionalism, safety and hospitality are three fundamental themes that the organizers have always taken care of down to the smallest details. But the event, which will see modern cars at the start and in parallel (with the 3rd Historical Rally of Salento), the always exciting historic cars, with their load of charm coming from the past, does not want to represent just a moment of sport lived at a high level, as it has always had the aim of enhancing and promoting the territory that hosts it. The choice of the route is never ranndom, but is always the result of a careful evaluation so that the competitive aspect is combined with the opportunity to take advantage of the trip to increase knowledge of the territory and its rural, landscape, historical and architectural attractions.
An extremely significant element that in addition to enriching the tourist offer, embellishes a sports
competition capable of fully highlighting the beauty of the territorial context in which it takes place.
Alongside the validity for the Wrc Italian Championship, an italian series reserved for those who love challenges with World Rally Cars and more and the ACISport Rally Cup in the Seventh Zone, the prestigious Apulian car competition celebrates the return, after twelve years, of the international ownership as proof of the CEZ, acronym normally used to abbreviate Central European Zone (Championship of Central Europe) that the FIA, the International Automobile Federation created twenty-five years ago to accelerate the process of integration and assimilation of Eastern European countries into the central area. These titles ensure the massive response of local pilots in addidion to the participation of crews from other European countries, whom have been provided important discounts, including a 50% reduction of the entry fee, in addition to free hospitality for three days for both pilot and navigator. What the organization proposes is certainly a significant incentive at a particular time for the economy and therefore also for motorsport and it certainly gives even more value to the sporting event itself. Again with regard to the FIA-CEZ (all information on www.cez-motorsport.com), it is important to specify that the championship is divided into fifteen events spread over ten nations and that in order to enter the rankings it is necessary to compete in
at least one abroad race with respect to the country of residence. It should also be remembered that unlike competitors holding an ACI Sport license, competitors with a foreign license cannot use the active online procedure for registration by accessing the reserved area of the federal portal www.acisport.it; instead, they must send all the required documents duly filled by e-mail, they are available on the website of the event which responds to the address www.rallydelsalento.eu.
